Empty Promises

At times we tend to make promises about things that we are unable to live up to. A guy tells a girl - I'll give you the stars, the sun, the moon, the sky and the world. Hmmm! First of all that stuff doesn't belong to you and 2nd you can't afford it.  Parents do the same thing in regards to what they tell their child. What does it mean when you give empty promises?  It means you can't keep your word and your trying way to hard to win someones affections.  Just be honest. Honesty goes a long way. There is nothing wrong with saying I can't afford it or I'm sorry, but I can't do that for you right now.  A person will respect you more if you just level with them. Giving them a empty promise will not only leave a bitter taste in their mouth, but will also leave a lasting impression about you not keep your word. So as I like to say keep it 100.
