Middle of the Sea
Over the weekend someone had inquired about something that had happened in my life last year. It was a painful experience, but I was able to tell them that I was doing much better. I didn’t have to say much, but I gave them the bottom-line. Each person has a breaking point. Some breaking points are longer than others, but we all have one. It’s a year later and I’m not bitter about my ordeal I’m free from it. When I say free I mean it doesn’t have control over my life and it doesn’t define me. When I was going through it all I heard this phrase “Not everyone in your boat is rowing some are drilling holes while your not looking”. That phrase came back to me this morning. In life there will be some that will realize they hurt you. Some will care about you enough to apologize and others will look at it as if they did nothing wrong. Can you say denial? Big Time! Don’t allow the treatment of others to define you. That type of control over you can be more powerful than you even know. When you realize that folks are drilling holes in the boat that has been carrying them from shore to shore for years there comes a time when you need to row out to the middle of the sea and throw them slam overboard. Leaving them in middle of the depths of the sea makes one realize you haven’t been getting to the shore on your own all these years. You see you have been their lifeline for so long they couldn’t realize they had been taking advantage of you. Therefore not realizing the harm they were causing you. They didn’t realize that their actions were the cancer that was eating away at your liver and the worm killing your apple tree. It can be hard for a person to look at themselves mainly because they really don’t like the person inside. When you look at a mirror you see the exterior of a person, but if you ever take the time to examine the interior and get down to the core you may discover their intentions, their real motive and even a black and dark substance that is covering their heart. I tend to watch a show called Once Upon A Time. It’s an interesting show and one episode showed how the Wicked Witch had turned green from envy she had of others. My question to you today is what is your real color? Are you wearing a mask to hide your intentions? Another question to consider is this – if someone was to give you the same type of treatment you dish out would it really be considered fair. We get worked up when people do us wrong but do we see the error of our ways when we dish out dirt.
